The Whatleys: Tyler, Mikhaela & Brynn

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

Chronicles 16:23-24

The Whatleys desire to be beacons of His marvelous light in the Asia-Pacific region.

Tyler grew up as a missionary kid in the jungles of Papua. Living among a remote tribe, he witnessed firsthand the need for the gospel to be proclaimed abroad, while coming to understand his own need for grace. Seeing how the power of the gospel ushered people from darkness to light, Tyler knew he wanted to participate in sharing the good news with unbelievers in remote areas.

On the other side of the world, Mikhaela was raised as a pastor’s kid in a small town in Ontario. Having heard about missions from a young age, Mikhaela developed a burden for the lost, prompting her to embark on a short-term “vision” trip to Cameroon, Africa. The Lord used that experience to deepen her burden and strengthen her desire to serve overseas, proclaiming the name of Jesus.

With hearts and minds set on declaring the glory of God overseas, Tyler and Mikhaela each attended Bible school (Ethnos360 Bible Institute and Heritage Bible College, respectively). Tyler met Mikhaela at Ethnos’ missionary training program in Durham while she was in her final year at Heritage. They were married and jointly completed the Ethnos training program, with the goal of serving in the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently, the Whatleys are in Asia-Pacific, learning the local culture and language as the first stage of their ministry in the region.
